  • Hi! I’m back!

      Loading editor
  • Thanks dude. I'm doing the "Write for the Tanki Newspaper" contest so I won't be as active. I'll still make edits every now and then.

    • Oh, i'm afraid i don't have a steam account XP Perhaps i created one in like 2013 or 2014 for something, but even if i did, i haven't logged into it since.

  • For the paint pages, I recommend making it so that the link to the page is (for example) http://tankionline.wikia.com/wiki/Paint-Frost instead of the normal http://tankionline.wikia.com/wiki/Frost. That way if we have a new turret or hull or something with the same name as a certain paint, we can correctly identify the pages from each other. There is a trick on how to rename the pages. It is similar to how you change the nav bar names.

    • Sup Rsa,
      I understand, though paints tend to have some very unique names that aren't normally ambiguous. Adding "Paint" to article names could resolve this issue, though in the unlikely case of 2 articles with the same name, it might be simpler to use brackets to make the page title more specific, like most wikis do (e.g. "Hornet (hull)" and "Hornet (paint)").
      Anyway, if you wanna standardize this, perhaps it's best to create a wiki page for manual of style, to cover all sorts of pages (paints, file names, guides, etc.); this way it will be easier to decide ahead of time what page titles are desired, so that we wouldn't have problematic pages piling up that we'll have to deal with in the future.

  • Is Tanki-X out now? Or do I have to wait.

      Loading editor
    • Yeah, it's out, but as for now, it's in its "closed beta" stage, meaning that anyone can entern it, but that requires a special code, or if you've been invited. There were several of those hidden in some of the recent V-Logs, but they have all probably long activated by others, and the team stopped hiding them in the V-Logs. However, if i'm correct, the Tanki team gives out codes in their Facebook page.

      Anyway, you can already download the launcher from the Tanki X website, so the first thing you should probably do is download that.

  • You have a smoky wasp in your profile that is the same as the ratings. How do you take your tank from the ratings and paste it onto wikia (or just save it as a pic)?

      Loading editor
    • Hi Blue,
      There are 2 ways to do that:

      Embed only the tank

      Add somewhere:

      {{Tanker3D|the_name_of_your_tank}}

      Add to a user infobox

      Infoboxes are a way of a user to show some info about them, in a small nav on the right of the page (what you saw in my user page). For that, copy the empty pattern in Template:UserInfobox, and fill in your Tanki nickname into the "tankiname" parameter.

      The image will always be up-to-date (but might take a short time to update right after changing equipment), and if you do that with an infobox, it would also link to your Ratings page.

  • Do you have any idea how to edit the gallery pictures of the Smoky page (or any turret page for the matter) ??

      Loading editor
    • Hi Trusted,
      I believe this option is disabled in the visual editor, so switch to the Source Editor (on the upper tab in the old visual editor interface, and through the dropdown on the left of the "Cancel" button in the new interface. Personally, i have the visual editor completely disabled via my preferences, since i find it easier and quicker to edit the page's source).

      There you'd see a syntax like this:

      <gallery>
      image 1 name|caption text
      image 2 name|caption text
      image etc. name|caption text
      </gallery>

      So you can add new lines with images, or change the file names of the images and their caption. The syntax is the file name (e.g. Turret smoky m2.png), followed by a pipe sign (|), followed by the caption.

  • How do you add charts like the one's for the hull and turret stats?

      Loading editor
    • Hi captain,
      Are you referring to the characteristics tables? If so, the syntax for tables is the following:

      {| class="wikitable"
      ! Heading 1 !! Heading 2 !! Heading 3 !! Heading etc.
      |-
      | row 1, column 1 || row 1, column 2 || row 1, column 3 || row 1, column etc.
      |-
      | row 2, column 1 || row 2, column 2 || row 2, column 3 || row 2, column etc.
      |}

      Which results in:

      Heading 1 Heading 2 Heading 3 Heading etc.
      row 1, column 1 row 1, column 2 row 1, column 3 row 1, column etc.
      row 2, column 1 row 2, column 2 row 2, column 3 row 2, column etc.

      Now, a bit about tables, in case the example above is not clear enough:

      The table itself starts with {| and ends with |}. The class="wikitable" in the first line means that the table will be given a pre-made styling, of a light-gray background and borders.

      To begin a new row, you go one line down and add |-, and then start a new line with your row.

      A row of cells that represent titles (or headings) starts with an exclamation mark (!), and the cells are separated with double exclamation marks (!!). A row of ordinary cells starts with a pipe sign (|), and the cells are separated with two signs (||).

      In the case of the characteristics tables, i left the first table title empty, and for the first cell in each row, i simulated a title by making the text bold ('''bold text between triple single-quotes''').

      In case this example isn't very clear, or you have more questions about tables/the wiki (or in case you meant a different chart), feel free to contact me again, and i'll happily try to answer your question.
